• Zena Silverstar has disappeared. No idea why. I’m leaving her parcel alone for now.
• Del moved from UUtopia ENE to UUtopia NNE1, next to TED and Zoe.
• Orikosh hasn’t been heard from in almost two months.
• We currently have 7 available parcels, 3 on Alcott and 4 on UUtopia.
• With this many empty parcels, I think it would be nice if some people decorated them. Perhaps leave a tasteful “this parcel is available” sign somewhere on them.

• Discussion:
• We should invite others to decorate un-rented parcels.
• Clean out the “UUtopian” group after announcing the cleanout
• Send a group message to UUtopians inviting others to decorate.
• We will provide a sign that says “Parcel available for rental touch sign for information” and it will send you a notecard with rental information (someone should generate the object/notecard and distribute to UUtopians)
• Please make decoration objects group-owned to UUtopians to allow other UUtopians to adjust.

Library Report – Pomona

• Now discussing “The Dalai Lama’s Cat”. Low attendance but TED and Pomona have continued. Time moved to Thurs 14:30 SLT. 4 of us were there today for the first session on this book.
• These discussions should be added to the SL Events calendar.

Saturday Worship Report (from TED)

• We’ve been having good discussions on Saturday. Group size varies, from just one to the better part of 10. About half non-overlap with Thursdays. People from Europe. TED will be away Aug 14 and 21 (out 8/9 – 27). Thank you Zyzzy for fixing the jukebox, especially on short notice. Zoe will take 8/14.

• TED giving a homily about Motivations at the Camp Hill UU congregation’s “Eventide” zoom meeting Thursday September 2nd 4 pm SLT. Prosper says the more the merrier. We should announce it to the UUs of SL group – Aug 26th, Zyzzy? (Ask TED or Prosper for link)
• There is a video playing automatically at the library. Zyzzy will check it out.
• Elections: for the month of July, ask the congregation whether anyone wants to join the leadership group. Then have elections on August 19. Et will come up with a list of candidates just before the vote, then a vote by acclamation just before the service
• Zoe reached out to Prosper Telling about the elections and he said yes, he would be interested, and the time would work out fine for him, so please put his name on the ballot.

• I broke the sanctuary jukebox yesterday, but Pomona noticed and let me know in time. Turns out that the ShoutCast controller I’m using has a bug in the latest version that prevents it from playing mp3s. I reverted to the previous version, and now it works again.

Membership is down to 34. I removed four avatars from the active member role as they had either left the group or not signed in after 1/1/2020. Those individuals are Taterbug Rossini, Beacon Questi, elseedyor and Morrigan.ethaniel.

The amount pledged so far for 2021 is L263,186. There are only 5 individuals I’m waiting to hear from, whose pledges last year amounted to L$42,560. I am following up with IMs.

UUtopia Report – Zyzzy

• Tim, aka tmst01 got back in touch with me, unfortunately, right after I cleared his parcel and rented it to someone else. He wants to pay the back rent and come back.
• Anara Heartsdale rented Tim’s former parcel at Alcott WSW.
• Today is the 11th anniversary of UUtopia’s Founding!

Outreach – Et

• From February: Et is going to the UUA General Assembly, and possibly Pomona. 6/24-27. (future GAs: June 22 – 26, 2022 in Portland, OR; June 21 – 25, 2023 in Pittsburgh, PA)
• Should we publicize our RL zoom services during the announcement period? Perhaps invite it during the beginning of announcements and people there can add it to the chat? Et working on an object to give away a notecard.

Library Report – Pomona

• The Religious Literacy Book Group is meeting Sunday afternoons at 3:30 pm SLT in the Library, where there is now installed a discussion ball and a nice sign about the group. This is led by Glanecia O’Riley (glanecia.varriale). The time was chosen by Glanecia and Too Easily Distracted. At the last meeting, only Glanecia and TED and I were present. Glanecia doesn’t want to be responsible for sending reminders of the meetings, but will allow me to do so. We are currently reading “Religious Literacy” by Stephen Prothero. We will begin discussing “The Left Hand of Darkness” by Ursula K. LeGuin on April 11th. I am not certain this is an optimal time on Sundays, but hopefully it will work. At any rate, I’m going to encourage it as much as possible.

• No one showed up last Saturday, I think because of Equinox parties. Aside from that, good conversations, and always at least a couple of people in the congregation. The alternating weeks of open topic discussion and written service works well for TED.

UUtopia Report – Zyzzy

• Tim, aka tmst01 has been absent for almost four months. No replies to my messages. I’ve reclaimed his parcel.
• I got a message from Dearborn Carling that he’s taking over the rental payments for the Baha’i area. Dearborn said that Peter needed a break from the expense, so he and Lady Mom are handling it now. I heard from Peter – he’s ok.

Sanctuary Sound System – Zyzzy

• The new streaming jukebox is working well! We had a problem Thursday where it wasn’t responding, but I tracked that down to my neglecting to automatically reset it when the region restarts. Fixed now.
• I intend to make the webpage interface more attractive.

Outreach – Et

• No recent activity. Et is going to the UUA General Assembly, and possibly Pomona. 6/24-27. (future GAs: June 22 – 26, 2022 in Portland, OR; June 21 – 25, 2023 in Pittsburgh, PA)

In 2020, there were 15 pledging members. I will begin soliciting 2021 pledges in February, by announcements at services, notices and personal IMs.

TED will give CDs to pledging members this year. She will send information to Sofia for the pledge drive.

UUtopia Report – Zyzzy

• Big changes with Freda dropping Nightingale and buying two new homestead regions, UUtopias Harper and Anthony, named for Frances Harper and Susan B. Anthony.
• She also took the UUtopia NNW parcel for the Belles’ Theater.

Sanctuary Sound System – Zyzzy

• I’ve mostly completed the new Streaming Music Jukebox for the Sanctuary. There are only a few fiddly bits remaining to deal with.The Jukebox uses a web page for selecting songs like the previous version, but instead of putting the URL of the chosen mp3 file into the parcel music field, it puts a streaming server URL there and streams the chosen songs through that server. This eliminates the looping problem that we currently have with direct playback of mp3s. There may be other problems – I’ve heard some dropouts, probably because I set the buffers too small. I’ve increased their size, so let me know if you hear any burbles.This jukebox now allows queueing music. The queue is shown on the web page. Note that it removes the “next song” 30-ish seconds before it starts playing due to the server lag. You can also skip the current song, clear the queue, and stop the music. Be careful of the server lag – skipping a song when it’s near the end may end up skipping the next song in the queue instead.Note that this is currently running on a server in my house. At some point, I’ll make the server selectable. Also, because it’s running from my house, I have to have the song files on that server too, so for now, only I can change what’s available. Feel free to send me mp3s (128kbps, CBR) or just song names & artists and I’ll add them. I hope to eventually allow playing songs from the FUUCSL music library.If you try to use the jukebox, but nothing happens, let me know and I’ll restart the server. Having it auto-restart is one of the upcoming enhancements.

  Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements.

Saturday Worship Report (from TED)

• Since mid-October TED has been responsible for all the Saturday services. Thank you TED!

• TooEasilyDistracted has been leading all FUUCSL Saturday Services since UTstudent stopped alternating as leader. The suggestion of having Open Topic services on alternate events has worked well to reduce leader time stress. On 11/28 TED presented the 1st of the 5 essay Existentialism-to-Action series given on Thursdays over the past few years. There are usually about 6 people discussing, often including a new face and several regulars.

Re: 10-Dec Has anyone figured out how to record the tiny carolers? Several people have asked for access to a recording. Freda has used FlashbackPro to record SL events. Or Liliana has used OpenBroadcasterSoftware (OBS). Freda has purchased the full version of FlashbackPro.

Zyzzy is working on music improvements.

• (Music skipping problems) Zyzzy is experimenting with Plex server. The viewer software is the root cause of this problem. Streaming music, rather than loading MP3s, will solve this problem.
• A committee to be formed to explore the options and make recommendations on the rearrangement of the four UUtopia regions. Early ideas are that Thoreau and Nightingale move to touch the north coast of UUtopia and Alcott.
• Liliana and Zoe to set up the Pagan Circle again
